DR4DR was borne out of the managing director's experience escorting supply convoys across Iraq. These convoys suffered major losses in personnel, equipment, and other assets due to a lack of an effective risk management regime.
I was convinced that a thorough risk assessment of our entire operation, analysing past incidents, timelines, locations, and incident outcomes, could achieve a greater mission success rate and significantly reduce the loss rate. We were able to transition our project operations to a risk-focused system, resulting in a remarkable 75% decrease in losses of personnel, equipment, downtime, and client assets compared to projects that didn't adopt this approach.
We have built on this approach to ensure that we are examining root causes, whether in people, processes, or procedures and that simple communication skills and easily understood security measures are at the heart of everything we do. The better we can build allies and assemble a pro-security team across an organisation, the more effective the security culture will be.
